N16TD Back In The Air At 43NC
« on: 22 July 2010, 16:15 »
Tom Orrell bought this ship direct from Germany in 1973.  It's been through a number of owners and was damaged in a trailer wreck.  Tom bought it a second time and had it repaired, but anno Domini and a bad back kept him from flying it.  I recently bought it from Tom along with the (repaired) trailer.  The plane is based at Bahnson Farm field (43NC) in Farmington NC (see attached photo).  I've only flown it once so far and found the elevator and rudder to be very effective (some PIO on take off).  I'm an instrument rated private pilot and own a C-172P based at KRUQ.  I'm very happy to be a member of the Piedmont Soaring Society, and really appreciate all their advice and help.  Hugh Honeycutt

Hi hugh,

Welcome at the asw-15 owners site. Very nice ship you have there! I like the subtile stripe.

Did you make some more flights with it and what were your experiences?
