Re:anti funghi chemical - 2007/03/09 01:23 My glider has been repair in 1988 for this problem to the left wing. This is what I can read in my log: ''The cavities of both spars were given a fungicide treatment. Epoxy resin Shell Epikote 162 and hardener BASF Laromin C 260 was used throughout the repair and all repaired areas were cured at 60 degres C for 24 hrs.''

But before putting that chimical product, they replaced the balsa, a section of plywood, the main rigging bushes, and a lot more. This job must be done by a specilist fiberglass aircraft repairs shop.

Hope this help!

Re:anti funghi chemical - 2007/03/09 03:25 Hi Eduardo,

Please don't use the caps lock for your messages. Capitals could be interpreted as screaming.

I was wondering, do you have really fungus in your spar or do you want to prime it as a prevention?

Re:anti funghi chemical - 2007/03/09 03:33 I never found any fungus , I would like just to prevent it anyway.
Is this Epikote and Laromin the resin and harndener or the is it the anti funghi chemical? . Please just clear that if possible

regards
Eduardo

Re:anti funghi chemical - 2007/03/09 15:41 Sorry I don't have more details about the products in my logbook. Also, the repair have been done with the last owner of the glider, and unfortunately he is dead. I bought this glider from his wife. Because the treatment was very complicated, it cost 10 000 canadien dollard to repair it in 1988. In Canada, finishing job can be done by owner with an AME approval, but this kind of work, only by a certified aviation shop. A mistake with a spars repair can cost a live.

Good day!
