Re:ZK-GGO - 2007/09/23 08:08 Hi Chris!

What had happend was the glider was written off from a bad ground loop on aerotow in feilding! I brought the damaged glider from the insurance company and have been repairing it part time at sailplane services! The refinishing was the last part! I was lucky that the origanal finish wasnt to bad and was easy to sand back! Also it was paint not gel coat so it was softer! Is GT starting to look like it needs a re finish! My dad owned that glider years ago! He was the one that talked me into GO becouse he thought they were great!

Re:ZK-GGO - 2007/09/28 11:42 I should have realised. Evertime I met Mike he seemed to have had another "adventure". Great to see you got it repaired I had heard it was a write off.
Nice to hear your dad once owned GGT, tell him I look after it well. It spent seven years in its box prior to my purchasing it. The glider is generally speaking in good condition but the top of the wings are less than good. I retire in a couple of years and thought I might give them a birthday. I have had some great flights in GT Geoff and am sure you will have to. Are you at feilding?
Cheers Chris N.

Re:ZK-GGO - 2007/09/28 16:44 hi Chris, I fly out of Auckland Gliding Club! I picked the glider up from Feilding! the wings arnt bad to do! The gelcoat is hard to rub back when it is that old! We just use a 60 grit paper and a long about two foot half square alloy bar! If its real bad you mite need to use an electric sander to get the cracks out, then spray on new gelcoat and bar that back to get the correct profile. My paint was mostley the fuse which is real fidley to do. Mike e-mailed me and was suprised to hear that the glider was flying befor his scares had healed! I broke the wheel brake last wendnesday landing in a paddock with full air brake. The wheel brake for golf oskar is on the air brake lever! There is a mod to put a lever on the control stick like youres! Next time i go to wellington I mighte have to have a look to see how its done, ill have to do that mod to mine becouse 4 inch brake assembleys are hard to find!
