Un-assisted take-offs - 2004/09/10 08:20 What is the best procedure to take-off without a wing-runner?
Let's say you land out and the tow plane comes to haul you out?
My ASW-15 has the off-set CG release. gerry

Re:Un-assisted take-offs - 2004/09/20 19:54 Difficult but I did it some times...

Let the left wing down on the ground.
If possible take off with the wind from the left side.
Slowly tight tow strap.
Set brakes on the tow AC.
Open air brakes half way on the 15 to allow additional airflow to the ailerons.
Full power then relase brakes on the tow AC.
During ground roll hold left wing down until enough airflow at the rudder and slowly retract airbrakes.

A little bit tricky but it works.

Never try with high wind from the right.
AC drifts immediately to the right.
Not controllable.
